Mimbo the iPhone Robot Mimics Your Emotions

originally posted by stan-schroeder

Interested in robotics, but building a robot seems too complex and you can’t afford an Asimo? The folks at Instructables have a solution: Mimbo, a simple, iPhone-based robot in a cardboard body that mimics your facial expressions.
At first glance, Mimbo isn’t really all that interesting: it consists of two eyes and a mouth on an iPhone screen, with the rest being concealed by a simple cardboard body.
However, with the help of TouchOSC Interface and some facial recognition tracking, it becomes a very cool little thing, mimicking the movements of your eyes, eyebrows and mouth, as you can see in the video below.
While the process of creating Mimbo isn’t just a matter of slapping a new app on an iPhone – it requires the understanding of some basic programming concepts and learning the basics of the TouchOSC Interface as well as face recognition app called FaceOSC – those of you who like tinkering should be able to create your own Mimbo relatively easily. Don’t call us when it becomes self-aware and turns against you, though.

Self awareness and the importance of it ...

Being aware of ones self and his capabilities is very useful for a future career.
Personality matters not only in profession but also in day to day life in every form of contact with society and hence having a good pure personality is advantageous for all human beings.

Some may take it as a given but as learned intellectuals it is a must I would say to have a vague idea in the least of what type of personality you are and how it affects you and others around you as well. Give it some thought and maybe write it down and read it yourself and find out as I did how much of an enlightenment it is to you.

There are many categorizations and tests on personalities. One such is the Jung Topology which has a online testing in the website http://www.humanmetrics.com which gives a pretty accurate picture of your personality.

Carl Jung initiated the theory categorizing personalities into three as
And Isabel Myers added another criterion as Judging-Perceiving.

Scanning via an ASP.NET page

Well I was given the task of building up a module in my ASP.NET Document Management Application, which could grasp scanned documents from a scanner and automatically feeding it to the server as images to be saved (on the fly scanning some would call it). After searching and a lot of RnD I figured out the hard way that no one was gonna post a valuable source code example as that from rock bottom for nothing. No modules or examples were found for free. So plan B was to get the best out there and after a wee bit of searching around found out that this was the best
Dynamic web TWAIN for ASP.NET was the product. The pricing is given in the site and they give u the option of testing it online as well as downloading for a one month trial with source code. VERY GENEROUS of them :P .

So yeah I'm still in the process of integrating it into my DMS and I soo recommend it to anyone who wants to scan and if anyone knows of a free reliable source please do leave a comment here. And for those of you who are willing to spend for a quick good easy product which runs on client side which makes it more faster :) then Dynamic TWAIN is the choice for you.

Find here the online videos and demo page and downloadable free trial version and trust me this thing is hassle free and the way they've explained it EVEN A BABY CAN BUILD UP A TWAIN APP :D

Just try it out and feel the difference between it and other TWAIN apps.
